The world’s most fashionable cities—loves of Gigi Hadid to Cindy Crawford!

Paris holds it close, Milan wants it bad, Los Angeles is the next big thing chasing it, and London is fierce about it—yes, I’m talking of the title of the world’s most stylish, most fashionable city. And while I cannot deny Paris’ claim over the title, for nobody knows it like a Parisienne (also, because Paris is one great love), there are more names to it.

If Burberry and Dolce Gabbana have a perpetual place on your wishlist and your first style icon was Cindy Crawford (remember her stints as Omega watches’ brand ambassador in the 90s), I’ll take you to the meccas of fashion.

1. New York

Simply, and clearly, because Saks on the 5th Avenue is where Gigi Hadid gets shops for her fashion high. While I would not pitch it opposite Paris, New York lanes are good sport for fashion hunters.

2. Nairobi

Yes, you read that right. Kenya’s capital is an emerging, and right so, love of the world’s best fashion designers and diggers. Creative, fast-evolving street fashion is what gets Nairobi a just place on the list. The annual Nairobi Fashion Market is, of course, not the event to miss.

3. Paris

Effortless, chic and oh-so-pleasing to eyes, that nails the tag of world’s most stylish city to Paris. Some might call the claim smug, but I’ll call it befitting. Paris will never be out of fashion, literally, for this is the city that made a little black dress THE LITTLE BLACK DRESS yet gives two hoots to high heels.

4. Milan

Yes, the Parisiennes take away most of the glory. But there is more to a fashionable city than just its people. If there is a place that has fashion in its soul, it can be no place other than Milan. Other than its widely famed fashion week, Milan is home to the world’s best luxury, fashion and design workshops and boutiques. Its close location to both London and Paris are reasons you cannot overlook.

5. Tokyo

Tokyo is hailed as one of the most stylish cities in the world, and its claim to glory is its eccentricity! Yes, that, simply that! And do not forget that this is the birthplace of trends including crop tops and gender-neutral dressing other than a lot of cool stuff.

6. London

Okay, there is no guessing this one. Londoners might be in a headlock with those who swear by Paris, for both are excelling in effortless. The difference, London fashion just looks it; do not underestimate the efforts put in for that lax-looking hairdo or the somewhat brazen yet well-fitted blazer adorned by the guy who just crossed you. It’s effort that does not look so. Tip: Hunting for fashion around Notting Hill is passe, head east.

7. Rome

Italy’s second fashion capital, right after Milan, is a hub of fashion. While you might not find locals strutting around in Rome, a huge number of designers in Milan descend from Rome, their aesthetic sense just the right amount of Rome.

8. Stockholm

Yes, this one is a surprise. But some strolling on the streets here will have you falling for local boutiques and indigenous brands as well the big ones such as Our Legacy.
